Actually, Apple copied someone else. I don't remember who made it (perhaps it was Compaq), but I saw a PC attached to the back of an LCD screen before a few years back.

As for the computer pictured in your post... I agree, it's pretty, well, nasty looking.

one thing is copying and improving...but

sony really made something awful.

if Apple did copy I'm sure they did improve....

i expect cool stuff from sony, but even they can't beat the lightness of the apple design.

just came back from a PC exhibition. man, what a bunch of ugly hardware! it's really amazing. it's like people have no taste for computers whatsoever.

This looks to me like a straight copy of Apple's ipod mini, but without any sense of design. Is it me, or is this thing ugly?

just saw the iMac G5 with my own eyes a half an hour ago... man was it so much better in real life than in pictures... and in the pictures it was cool.

i think the difference with Apple and other manufacturers is that they way apple designs, is to start with a blank paper, make some design and then fit the hardware into that shell. Meanwhile, the way I believe many other companys do it, is to have a bunch of hardware and try to make a design from that!

That's of course where apple has the advantage... they don't have 7035 different companies making their stuff...

they claim not. remember, they said PMG5 designed from inside out.

btw, what you're saying about Apple products looking cooler in real life than on images is so true. it happened to me as well several times. the PMG5, the eMac, the iPod and recently i saw the new cinema displays, they are awesome, but all of these didn't look that great on images to me!
