This idea is by far the best so far as far as visual interest goes but my concern is, if I go to Aswan: are these hats going to be so prevalent that it will resonate with the poster? Is there some sort of exciting history that I want to learn about to see these hats? Essentially, why should I care given their nature.

Aside from the questions, your lime green text (where the journey began) could be more clear to distinguish- it gets lost in the textured weaves behind.

looks like a bunch of baskets. doesnt really convey ANY kind of narrative or motivate me to investigate further.

doesnt matter what they ARE if what they LOOK LIKE is more identifiable to the general viewer

You do see WGZN's point though, right? If someone can't identify correctly what something is- then it's only pretty decoration, is it not? You need some sort of concept or message that is both pretty and effective in making someone want to Google (or go to their travel agent) and search for the destination you're advocating. Currently I have the reaction of "pretty, but what's an Aswan?" because I have Google at my finger tips and its a critique to help you communicate better, I acted on my curiousity. If I was a busy traveler passing this on the way home exhausted, this wouldn't make me stop and inquire any further.

Please listen to your target audience, who are travelers probably unfamiliar with Aswan or the headgear thereof. If you want to use this image, which I agree is attractive, then your tagline needs to do something to tie the image and the message together. I mean something like, "Aswan's hats are off to clever travelers who want to see where mankind's journey began." ("Hats off" is a British/American expression signifying welcome and approval, as in "My hat is off to Michelle Obama for promoting healthy exercise."

Just a picture and a logo with a tagline won't do it. You need a concept.
