Used and Abused

I was reading an article the other day regarding design trends, and how some became so popular that you saw them popping up virtually everywhere.

Which trend did you feel was overused and/or that you got sick of looking at?

Cheers for a Friday.

Abstract vector art. You know what I'm talking about! Circles within circles, shittily vectorized pictures(Live Trace), mirrored images....ugh. You really can tell the people with bootleg versions of Illustrator from the ones who actually paid money for it!

I am SICK & TIRED of seeing this slogan everywhere!!!!! OMG, it is so overused I could puke.

Examples: Got Vineyard? (local church here in northern CO). I've seen a few more pertinent to local businesses here, but I can't think of any right now.

I know it's technically not a design trend, but I guess it is. Ugh!!!

Speaking of slogans... The whole "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" thing is starting to get overused everywhere, too. Seems every city has some journalist or marketing director who eventually decides they think they should use the same slogan for their own city.

I saw it here in my little teeny "NOTHING ever happens here town" - someone decided to brand our little city with that slogan. I think I spied it somewhere in a newspaper article or something.

And the "rough" look with flowery flourishes has been done to DEATH, as have rounded corners. What's wrong with freakin corners?!

Yes, it appears that is being overused, as well. However, I do like it. =P

easy rounded corners in indesign now. it doesn't take effort.

i kind of like 1 or 2 rounded corners on a rectangle, but you're right, the rounded rectangles are getting pretty ubiquitous.

Sorry, not slamming your page. I see other designers use it just for the sake of using it. At least you commit to it and it's part of your style. :)
