Does anyone use this? It's like mini-blogging - you give quick updates [up to 140 characters] about what you're doing.
You can send updates through the website [www.twitter.com], or through a program on your computer. You can also send them via a text message or through an IM program like AIM or GTalk.
I can't decide if it's good or not yet, i just signed up and i don't know anyone else who has it. It seems like a pretty cool idea.
If you have an account, add me [http://twitter.com/adnrw] or if you want an account you can sign up or i'll send you an invite and i'll be added automagically.

Although facebook has definitely sold out in the past months (ads everywhere, sponsored groups, etc.), I do like the privacy it offers to only allow friends see your details. unlike a live URL like twitter.com/~... where anyone can take a look. i think we'll see an explosion of sites like twitter in the future.
you can make your twitter feed private so only friends can see it, and it won't add it to the public timeline.

Looks interesting, but I don't think I'm gonna use it. I already have two blogs to maintain and several community pages. Good idea though.
I've used it plenty. It's more of a novelty web app that doesn't have much use except to 'see what people are doing'. Lots of buzz about it at South By Southwest music and tech conference in Austin, TX.

I love twitter, its great as you can easily update on the move on iphone or most mobiles nowadays. If you want to follow me its twitter.com/sidesey I was hoping creativebits would be one there, but I guess not, shame, as I would be able to keep up with events here more. Natobasso, whats your twitter address? Seen harrison is no longer on it... I guess i'm a year and a half late to post here, but twitter has really taken off I IMO!
i signed up because it seemed interesting too, but havent really used it.. i don't really see what the point is.. like okay right this second "im going to the bathroom" and in 15 minutes "im gonna go shower" do people really need to share their every move throughout the day? it does seem like an intersting idea, has anyone found a good use for it yet?
- the words I try to live by: "good is the enemy of great."
Seems like our society is a bit too impersonal regarding text messaging and the like, so IMO, this just adds to the waste out there...

Actually it's quite useful for setting up meetings with real people, called "Tweetups". :)

I've been using twitter for a few months now and it's been a GREAT networking tool. I moved to New Zealand 2 weeks ago and made more than 10 friends that I've since either met, talked to, and even got a job from a twitter friend!
It's useless if you post your bathroom events, but so valuable if used as a bulletin board for your projects, networking needs, and ideas.
Sidesey, looks like you found me on twitter. :) twitter.com/natobasso

You moved to New Zealand! Hows that working out? :)

Working out great so far. Thanks to twitter I got a job relatively quickly (spent 2 months emailing a potential and calling about 6 recruiters; got a skype call/1st interview with my now boss) and even went to a Tweetup my first week here. Met all sorts of geeky computer types.
It's beautiful here and it's coming in to summer now. The winters are very rainy and I expect to be soaking wet much of the time. :)

Congrats on the move man. Sounds cool. What made you make that jump?
Thx man. Wife's a kiwi and she and my daughter are dual citizens. I am an NZ resident (by marriage) and hope to be a citizen in 2 years. I wanted to move here for the experience, couldn't pass it up!

My Twitter address. It's a great medium between email and full-on iChat.
It's a great networking tool, and a fantastic resource for finding great stuff on the Web.
The hardest part is just finding people to follow. Once you get a few people whos "tweets" you enjoy reading, you look at who is following them, and who they are following. I've found lots of great stuff this way. You can also search Twitter's public feed for topics. For instance, you can search for "Adobe" and find everyone who's talking about Adobe. Twitter is how I found out about the massive layoffs at Adobe this week - long before Web sites started publishing about it.

I have tried it, but think it's kind of a waste of time. Maybe I'm being ignorant here, I don't know. Heck, I'm just getting used to Facebook (as some of you know).

You just haven't figured out how to make it useful for you. Every tool has a use, and just because you don't need that particular tool doesn't mean you're ignorant, or that the tool is useless.
I follow a lot of technology, Mac and design people on twitter. I find a lot of links to great articles and resources through them - which I turn around and post on my site. Twitter makes it very easy to discover new things.

Twitter irritates the hell out of me. I suppose I should be grateful. Makes me more saintly.
And now, some guy has shareware out there called LoudTwitter that lets people forward their Twitter archive to their blog(s), so I'm being confronted with this gibberish even in places I normally seek out for cogent conversation involving actual sentence structure 'n' stuff. There's no way to filter these posts out, short of de-friending the tweeter.
Grrrrr!

I have yet to find a use for Twitter myself. Even on the sites/blogs I follow closely, I don't bother looking at their Twitter feeds (if they have one). I figure if it's really important, they'll post something about it in more detail on the actual blog.
It's taken me a while to get warmed up to Facebook as it is. I like it a lot now... and it is an interesting way to keep in touch with your friends and family.
But Twitter... just not sure what to do with it just yet.
To me, it's just one more site to have to visit. I prefer it when someone consolidates everything into one place for me to view, instead of "Here, visit my Facebook page, flickr page, Twitter page, WordPress blog, Amazon wish list, etc. etc. to see what I'm up to!"
kelly, take a look at the alltop.com pages. start with the design page: http://design.alltop.com/.
Ooh, now there's a nice consolidation!
Yeah man its pretty sick!

My husband recently signed up and is trying to get me to join the bandwagon.... we'll see.
My mail list supplier is offering Twitter feeds and other kinds of electronic marketing support. This is apparently is big deal now -- I would hate to get spammed like that, but it's good to know about. It's important for targeting younger demographics whose lives revolve around texting, tweeting etc.
