A friend of mine is a studio musician, and he wanted a logo to put on his base drum, and on his business cards, and whatever else. He is very classy, always dresses up, and is really outstanding at the drums.
Here are the first four concepts. What do you think?
-wow, I feel so brave having posted 3 critiques in the last 2 days. Well, anyway... Thank you, you wonderful, wonderful people you.

I like #'s 3 and 4. They obviously have a more drum relationship. I think 3 would be the better choice as #4 looks a little "phallic" ;-)
Also, I take it 'Don' is his name, but how about using it as the "don" as in the Godfather (in this case of drumming). If so, I would use the "Corleone" (as in the Godfather movie) font to make that relationship; you can find it here http://www.dafont.com/search.php?psize=m&q=corleone

Go with number 4.
So simple its borderline retarded.
I love it and those sticks pop out, and in reality their net even there.
Excellent.
I want to marry it.
Well, thank you! that is the nicest thing anyone has ever said about that concept. : )
Sadly, that one wasn't chosen, so it shall go on my shelf. Or maybe on my congas?
Very Respectfully,

The Beatles used it successfully 40 years ago. That could be a playful connection to make, depending on the style of music involved.
The first one is...a horse's head? Ah...so you *did* make the Don Corleone connection. Pass.
#2: I'm afraid the script font is retro, but not in a good way. Too "My Autograph Book."
#4: The drumstick silhouettes look like candles to me, actually.
None of these says "best in the world" to me at all. Even Don Corleone wasn't the best in the world. He was maybe the best in Upstate New York, most of Brooklyn, certain blocks on The Strip in Vegas, and, by extremely subtle implication, at least one casting director's office at Columbia Pictures.
All the images are fairly static. I think you need to convey more energy.

Try researching what drums and drumming or his drumming style is all about. Find some words of other feelings that you could create the logo using. I feel the use of the drum sticks or a bass drum is to simple. If hes the best I feel his logo should represent him in a higher level.
