If done right, 12 really isn't a bad thing :D.
Kinda the same with 11... unless the video is holding the user up and they have no choice but to find a skip button or sit through it. A video at the top of the page never hurt anyone... XD

I'm referring to "start pages" that have nothing but a stupid-ass Flash video of a stupid logo spinning around for 20 seconds telling me what I'm going to be able to read if the video ever ends... ;-)

With regards to #11. I don't mind clever navigation, as long as it is absolutely clear that it IS the navigation, and it's absolutely clear how to use it. It pisses me off when I see 15 colored boxes that are 20x20 pixels and the only way to see where clicking them will take you is to mouse over them. I just leave the site. Don't make me THINK and HUNT so hard about how to find what I came to the site for to begin with, you know what I mean?!
