i like toast!
Hehe, that's actually my hard drive. I got the icon from Diesel Sweeties and I just named it toast because it's a toaster.
I love these threads because I always try to make it devolve into taking screenshots with other people's screenshots in it, making an infinite loop.
Oh, you messy people! :P
BTW, hello all!!! :D

Ok, maybe it's something everyone else knows, but how did you get that search bar up in the menu bar? I want one too.
I wanna know too!!

Hello Mississauga! Welcome to our little corner of the web.
Check it out. Lot's of additional search sites can be added, including a9.

Hey Jimmy, I use at least 1/3rd of those and half of them I remember what they are!
I suffer from Macheimer's Disease.
Right now we are buying car parts for the MG but oh payback is going to be a payoff. If I can't get my hands on a G5 laptop soon, I may have to get an iMac and and an iBook for the road. But I really want a Powerbook. Then I can take advantage of a real high speed system. :D

Here is my first contribution to the forums. Looks like my dock is pretty filled up too. Amazingly, I use every single one of the programs regularly.

I used to have a HUGE dock, and the dock became pretty pointless! I switched over to Launchbar http://www.obdev.at/products/launchbar/ and I have never looked back. Now my dock has a maximum of nine items, the most frequently used. The rest is accessed by launchbar. For anyone out there who has not AT LEAST tried this program, do so now!
i use overflow.. as seen in my desktop pic.. it's pretty useful.. don't like having a huge dock..
Here is my desktop.. It usually runs 1920x1200 but hey I shrink it down in order to post it 8)
The wallpaper I got from InterfaceLift or something like that..

Until I get my new powerbook on the 20th I'm stuck with windows:( Still its cool to have 3 screens....

what's that messenger doing in your dock???? ;)
Here is mine. No 3rd party skins or icons. Pretty plain, fresh installation. And, those stickies are the bits i'm working on.

Emm... I decided I needed a new Icon for OD4Contact (great app, woeful icon) and this was lying around so...always recycle....it says so on the box

Even a iconmaker has the right to be lazy or what :P
Hey Ivan, what are the apps in your dock that are to the right of Illustrator and to the right of Flash? Just curious...
do you think I have enough apps!
although half of them are on the other screen!!
:D

now i know, who to ask about video production...
I haven't got the apps, I just like the icons!!
:D
Seriously though, I have just been told that I need to clear my machine as it needs to go away for repair. It's going to take a day or 2 to install all them apps onto a new machine!
:(

I've noticed that some people have all their application icons in the doc. I was wondering what's a reason in putting there such application as QuickTime or RealTime. These applications are launching automatically when you click on the relative file.
I also have another question. How often any of you is using MS Excel or Entourage. I have seen in the dock of many of you, but I haven't noticed these application to be launched.
I am just being curious about how people organize their workspace and why.

Believe it or not i end up using all of the apps in the dock at least a few times a week, actually, no ... I just noticed the address book. I haven't used that for ages!
The reason that I keep real and quicktime in there is because sometimes I need to check files that are not associated with the app, ie an mpeg that might want to launch WMP, so I can then drag it onto the icon.
Also, sometimes after exporting from FCP, the icon says FCP but I want to test it in Quicktime. This doesn't happen very often but it does sometimes.
I just noticed that I don't have all of my apps in the dock either, those I use rarely or are secret and I don't need them on show!
take it there > http://www.rickler.com
Interesting. Personally I have only those programs in the dock to which I turn on a daily basis. I don't mind pressing Apple-Shift-A for those I use more seldom. I tried to have all apps in the dock too, but in that case I had troubles finding the one I needed so I would actually spend less time by launching Finder.

Secret applications... I hope you are not designing atomic weapon :-)

if you want to clear your dock you need to check out programs like LaunchBar and QuickSilver. After I got used to using launch programs, I hardly use my dock anymore.
here is a good article about the two programs. i promise, if you start using them seriously, youll get hooked.
http://www.submitresponse.co.uk/archives/quicksilver_vs_launchbar.php
I actually do use Quicksilver it's incredible. It takes a short while to get used to, but after that you wonder how you got along without it.
I keep the dock available more or less for appearance sake and the occasional drag of a file to an application icon.

lemme try quicksilver again...

hehe... funny
Custom wallpaper... i like a pretty face on my desk....take like 15 mins... i had to put it.. long time ago!!!
and.. far far away......
Do you have several of them or only one. Would be cool to have a series interchanging.
I had time just for only one..... but if you like it.. i'll send it right away.... just send me your e-mail....
I really love this, it's nice and dark on the sides so it doesn't interfere with my work too much. At work I run it at 1920x1200 pixels [ 23" is sooo cool! :-) ]
100% looks like this:

man what is this background? i love it
Heres mine
Pretty basic desktop for a pretty basic guy. I don't like backgrounds very much anymore because I find they distract me and make me feel "cluttery"
By the way, YOU GUYS HAVE A LOT ON YOUR DOCKS! wow. I'm extremely anal about my desktop, things have their place and if its not in progress or being worked on its not on my desktop!
I will install OSX x86 on my machine when it comes out.
i'm using windozer but i try to change it the best possible to mac os x.
so here's my desk:
http://pwp.netcabo.pt/iStatic/11%20agosto.jpg
it's a windozer xp + windowblinds, avedesk, samurize, miranda, nice wall, nice icons and yzdock!

My current desktop - I have about 20 Rustboy wallpapers on rotate, but this is probably my favourite one.
