This is a print ad created for my Motion Graphics class to acompany a 30 second After Effects animation. Please view attached video as well. Any comment are appreciated as I'd like to polish this up even more for my portfolio.

Perhaps you should change the font. It's so 1980's (actually that font has been around since 1950 or so, but anyhow...)
Perhaps it should have less flash and dash. The reflected text can go, remember, the cleaner and simpler you can get something across, the better. Study Apple's ads for instance. I don't know if they have one for the MacBook Pro yet, but Apple ads typically feature a simple black or white background, a nice shot of the product in question, and tastefully placed type. The background on your ad is a bit too distracting, the lines are distracting that slice up the MacBook, and it looks weird. Also the Apple logo can be simply an outline, without the silver part and without a border. Same goes for the text on the bottom - no border is needed. Make it contrast from the background.
I looked at the video too, but I won't go into that here :)
I've had a look at the video and they look the same, which is good. You can easily tell that they're related. In your future designs, I'd simplify things. If you take a look around here, you'll see the simpler the design, the better it is liked.
When looking at a page you don't need to fill it all with stuff. Smaller font sizes and letting things breath a little more.
I would say that I like your choice of colours.
The finesse will come with time, but you're definitely on the way. Keep going and keep checking back here.

(oh, on the video the reflection of "speed" isn't reflected)
It shows that you have a good command of Photoshop and Aftereffects. As it's been said previously, simple is better.
Nice work Joshua, you've got a nice understanding of After Effects, theres a few tacky bits in there, but I did watch it all the way through so its not tooo bad lol.
I think some of the bits that put me off the doubling of the Apple logo, the reflective text as its been mentioned already, and that music.... oh that music..... lets not go there, heheh.
thanks for sharing.

Thank you all for your comments. I agree that simple is better. My teacher however did not and believed that anywhere where there was blank space was a missed oppertunity to show your skills. I will do a revision for my portfolio that more accuratley represents my style.
Mackie - As for the font, this one is Eurostile. I do like it, however I may change it to Lucida Grande to better match Apple's branding. If you think a different font would look better let me know.
Chris - Thanks for commenting on the connection between the two. That was a large grade determining factor. Also, I didn't even notice that "Speed" wasn't reflected correctly. That section was done 2 hours before class so it was a little rushed. Thanks for the heads up.

I think the Apple font is Myriad.
Good call. Myriad is Apple's marketing font as of 2002. Lucida Grande is merely the font used in the OS X GUI.

Somewhere (on this site) someone posted a spoof of how iPod would have been packaged if it were up to Microsoft... It sounds like your teacher should take a look at it.
With that said, (and all the above comments on simplicity) I think your pacing is nice.
I know that video. I should definitely show that to my teacher.

I know it's not really what the critique is about, but Euro-Pop doesn't really make me think 'Apple'. Like the graphics, it's a bit to busy and upbeat to have that 'Apple Cool' feel about it.
Good Photoshop work, also. (I know nothing about after effects so I'll just have to trust the other posts and say 'good job'!)
