Widget shortcuts

If you want to close a Dashboard widget, hold down the Option key and mouse over it (there's no need to open the widget bar).
In case you do want to open it, you can press Command = (equals sign). Finally, if you have to restart the Dashboard for any reason (when a widget has frozen, for instance, and pressing Command-R won't fix it) you have to force quit the Dock, as the Dashboard is a child process of the Dock. You can do this with Activity Monitor, found in Applications/Utilites.

I didn't know about the Apple and + shortcut. The restart has a great animation effect - good visual feedback about what is happening.
I have to admit the sexiest widget in my dashboard is still the creativebits widget on Apple.com. Maybe only the weather widget is a tad better (beacuse of it's content of clouds and stuff), but beats the gmail widget.
when you use CMD + = you can use CMD + Left Arrow or Right Arrow to go through the scroller of widgets
