Gmail anyone?
Ivan | Sun, 2005-05-15 06:13Gmail is just getting bigger and better every day and I see so many people using it, I wonder if anyone left using yahoo or hotmail. :D Google is taking over the world! Have you seen http://www.google.com/sms/ ?
Anyway, if you wanna try it, just drop me a mail.

Also, I know many have offered this, but if anyone needs an invite, I have plenty!
And if you run out.. I've got about 300 to give away lol :D

Yeah, me too. Wierd. But okay with me.
I just got a gmail account yesterday. I had a comcast email account as my main email but recently moved, comcast is in my roommates name and they discontinued my email.
So, I figured gmail looks pretty good and hopefully it will be around for a while, it has TONS of storage and google is the shit so it must be good.
Have a yahoo account that I mainly use for junk stuff/personal stuff.
Is there anyone left that does not have gmail? I think I have used 3 invitations total. For something that's in beta, everyone I know seems to have switched permanently to it.
My old hotmail account is checked once a month, just to keep it active. It's the email I enter in anything that requires an email address.
time to rename hotmail to spamail. ;)
I had a hotmail account for years, and all i got was spam. Then i tried mail.com, and all they do is give you ads like crazy. Free email accounts are just not worth it, though i haven't tried gmail yet.

Ads with gmail is a given, but surprisingly there are not bothering at all. They are on the right side and I rarely notice them. I guess our brains are trained to ignore ads.
HotSpam also has a bit of a ring to it, don't you think?
I've honestly never noticed. But then again, at home I check my gMail through Mail.app thanks to POP3 (think that's gonna go away when it's out of beta, a la Yahoo?).
you can get yahoo mail through pop3
Don't they charge for it though? (Which was what I was getting at, and if I was wrong, then it's just another example of me looking like a jackass on the internet and I apologize.)
Yahoo does charge for their Plus service, but Gmail's POP access is free, and they "have no plans to charge for it in the future."
Of course, who knows. Later on, they could say, "Well, we weren't planning on charging, but ..."
the plus service but i get my yahoo mail in my mail.app.. no charge..
If you need an invite, or if you have extra invites, check out http://isnoop.net/gmail/
Here's a blurb from the site... "People with available invites send them to the spooler’s address (gmail@isnoop.net), and it automatically adds them to an available pool. People who need addresses can then get invites from this pool, as necessary.
It’s a good place to dump those excess invites, and anybody who needs a GMail invite can pick one up there, easily. Saves time for everybody, really.”

It's funny how gMail have changed email. Now, people are referring to phases of their life that they don't remember details about as preGmail. It's true. I store everything on my gMail. The google search engine applied to gMail is winner.
