Film Production Co. Identity

This logo design is for a small film production company. The client wanted the identity to "illustrate some of the mystery in film and storytelling while remaining simple and attractive" and has picked this one out from a slew of others that I presented. The client is very happy with this design. I now have the task of making revisions and alternative versions. The business card and letterhead were merely for presentation purposes only and really have not been worked out yet. I wanted to get peoples' opinion and reaction to this design. While the client does not seemed to be too worried (because they like the mysterious nature of the design), legibility of this logotype is a concern of mine. What do you guys think?

The logo has a very nice rhythm and balance to it, and no problem at all with legibility. Your business card layouts are going to require some precision trimming on the left edge. So, does your client deserve a stenciled die cut on the logo? Your logo would look great stenciled or embossed for a portfolio cover or for signage :)
I was thinking the same thing as garyW suggested, about the embossing? The logo would work great for that, but if not, the logo still is great and your stationary designs are really nice too. Nice work, thanks for posting it!

The minimalist approach to things is great. I'd say keep this without a doubt. The legibility isn't at all an issue. I could tell what it said right away
After such a slurry of cr*p that has been posted for review lately (you know who you are) It is a nice relief to see this one.
legibility of this logotype is a non-issue.
One word, "perfect"
Glad im not the only one who thought it " slurry of cr*p that has been posted for review lately (you know who you are) "
Nicely put

A truly unique looking identity. Legibility is definitely not an issue.
This is getting nit picky, but you said you wanted to do some refining. The only part that bothers me is on the "N" the small piece of the N in the upper right of the letter is not lined up the lower section of the N. It just seems like that little fragment needs to be moved to the left, or else the lower leg of the N needs to go further to the right. Is that all understandable? I hope so.
Otherwise, looks great. Good to see some actual great work up in the critique section. :)

I like the font.
Very nice. Something that will be very recognizable for the company.
Thank you all for your feedback. It is much appreciated. I am glad you have all liked the identity. calvincarl, much thanks for the nit picking. I am definitely going to take your advice on the "N".
that's a really nice logo. looks interesting (although i did take me a few seconds to look at it and figure out what it said) and after seeing it was for a film production company i can see how appropriate it is.
first thing i thought though... does there need to be so many broken letterforms? i mean every single character is touched. but everyone seems to like it how it is.
Nice work.
I had no problem reading it at first glance. Stationery is great too!
I can see the die cut now... very cool
I do a lot of work for the film industry and that is by far one of the best new logos I have seen lately. It is modern, fun and communicates wonderfully. Nice job.
