Art reseller logo

So, here is a project I'm working on right now. The client is an art reseller, or, going to be... and they are going to mainly sell Latin American art. They wanted a more casual look, rather than elegant and ritzy, and they already turned down having a frame, or slanted square in the design. But that might be kind of cheezy anyway. I chose a deep blue and an orange color because you will often find those two in Latin American art, or at least Mexican.
Well, tear it up! Thanks for your help!

I think you're off to a good start. Nice color combinations and type choices. Not sure about the blue rectangle in the first and third design, it works better in the second where it's not centered and cutting the image in half. Though in the second I feel the rectangle is too tall and the smaller text doesn't read well in the orange. It'd be nice to see other solutions you may have to incorporate the name without the frame. I like your sun/flower shapes.

Thanks for your help, I'll post some other concepts soon. But AHH! it wasn't supposed to look like a flower!? Thanks for pointing out that too. Oh, I should point out to everyone that Galleria del Sol means "the Sun Gallery."

Very Respectfully,
Anthony

Well it could read sort of as a sunflower, but the sun is also evident. It definitely has that Latin American feel to it. Reminds me of the beautiful tile work you might find.

When I first looked at this, it kind of reminded me of a mixture between La Quinta and Days Inn. Especially the half-sun thing has the hotel feel for me.

One of the first things I noticed is that it looks like you added a texture on left-hand side of the blue box. It's distracting, because it doesn't look like it's supposed to be there. I think either go with the weathered look, or not.

I think the blue box is a little strong compared to the actual text. Maybe find a stronger font. It's definitely a good start, keep it up and keep us posted! :)

EDIT: You just changed out the image. . .I liked the old ones better. >< Maybe make a new thread or attach the new ones instead of replacing the old one.

Sweet, thanks for the tips. I'll just attach the newer versions next time. I definitely don't want the hotel look... hmm...

Texture on the sun graphic too will tie it all together

I suggest tighter word spacing on the headline. A better typeface for the tagline will make a difference... bolder and in keeping with the rustic look and not set in l/c, and it also needs to move up off the bottom.

may I suggest something that looks like:

Well Try to get some inspiration on Frida Kalo, Diego Rivera and Botero, Check their color scheme, We latinos have a lot of color not just blue and orange, check the green scheme colors. The sun is too used, as this one as the Mexican sun/moon souveniers, they are a little too clicheé. Latin America is so rich and full of color, and we use some other colors not just this ones. The type is too antique, colonial type, as Antigua Guatemala, or Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, reminds me of the Spanish Colonies, ironworks, too old, we have so many stuff to be reminded by not just old stuff. You want to sell your Galeria, as something new and Sazzy, improved and modern, and belive me we have a lot of modern stuff too, and still look latin and still look attractive. Check our Artists, Botero, Rivera, Kalo, Efranin Recinos, and much more, get some inspiration from the real people, you will find many different options.
This are my two cents. From Guatemala City with love.

Caya

Thanks for your advice! I'm sorry if I referred to Latin America in an incorrect way. I only meant that I hadn't done enough research to make any comment about Latin America, or the artists, or traditions that those countries might have. I was only refering to what my experience was, and what the gallery has to offer which is ... so far ... Mexico. And by no means to I want to generalize everything but Mexico. And you are right, colors, traditions, and histories vary greatly from country to country, state to state, and even town to town.
Thanks for the references to those artists. I will go do some research.
