Anyone have any Gmail invites these days?
cherbs (8 points) | Mon, 2005-10-17 16:17I am looking for an invite to Gmail. I thought I had an account but it may have expired. I would really like to have Gmail back, it is great and I am getting rid of my $100/year .Mac account.
Also, does anyone know of a good web host for personal webpages that are cheap? Thanks for any help.

Be careful of taking Gmail as your primary account. I recently started the same move you are talking about and started to forward my dotmac email to Goole mail.
Then came a reminder that this is still a Beta servce. about lunch time Weds I lost accesss to my gmail emails. Couldn't get in via the web or POP3. This continued into Thursday where I eventually gained access to my account about 24hrs later. Only to find that the emails that had been forwarded from my dotmac accoount had disapeared into the dark hole that is cyber space.
Lucky for me I still retained all the emails in my dotmac mailbox so all is well, but it was a warning for me to stick with something that is not beta software. Yahoo seem to be putting plenty of effort into making there networks compete with Google for functionality, but i would stick with dotmac.
