a30: personal logo v2

Hello. About 2 months ago I posted a logo for critique. To re-visit the concept, jump here: http://creativebits.org/a30_personal_logo
I received some great feedback, and I appreciate everyone's response. Well, it's time for round 2. I've been sitting on this for a couple days now... like last time, it would be great to get some opinions from others. I took a step back and made some adjustments. As you can see, I've removed the flame. Though I had underlying meanings for it, I think it was sort of forced into the design. I wanted to play a little more with negative space with this second version. I also switched gears and leaned more toward referencing the element on the periodic table by implementing a stylized superscript 30.
There are a couple variants on how the identity could be displayed. One of the marks is a rendition of the main logo (the one with the "A", "3", and "0" all joined). For some reason I was drawn to this one equally and thought that it may be an optional branding mark when appropriate. I'd like to get your thoughts on lowercase vs. uppercase on the name. Which works for you?
You should get the gist and purpose of this logo from the first post. I look forward to your feedback...
Regards.
BJ

Kinda looks like Mickey Mouse got squashed by a big question mark. Why not revisit your 'flame' idea, but instead use a mushroom cloud? Like this (but nicer, of course):
“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.” - Albert Einstein
“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.” - Albert Einstein
I love your literal take on it. "...Mickey Mouse got squashed by a big question mark." I appreciate your input, but never saw that one comin'!
A mushroom cloud has obvious negative connotations to it. That's the main reason I've steered clear of incorporating it into the mark.
Due to the lack of activity in this thread, I took another look at changing some things that jumped out at me. I've put a few of these renditions here.
I'm curious if it still looks like Mickey Mouse vs. Big Question Mark... :)
Thanks again.
Just make the "a" more like an "a" than a "?" and make it so that the bottom half of the 30 isn't cut off by the a (or just add a little bit more to the three) and it might look less like a mickey mouse squished by a big ?. I love the design though :D
Honestly, I like the logo with just the text "ATOMIC30". It stands well on its own.
It does look less like MM got squashed, but like I said, I prefer just the text.

K, I like all of the logos on their own. :D they're all very well made.
The logotype is strong enough, scratch the symbol. I have a few ideas but not sure as to how I can attach to this crit. Good luck!
I'd like to see what you were thinking. Could you upload it and post the link?
just off of the top of my head, i did not refine. may help with other ideas. best of luck!
these are a really strong change compared to your first posting with the burning "a"
I like the second set you posted on this thread. There'd me minor tweaking at best in my opinion. Just remember, you'll always be your own harshest critic, sooner or later you'll have to find a happy medium and run with it. Personally, you're there, but that's all up to you! lol
best of luck

@ archmedia:
You're definitely right that I'll always be my harshest critic! I've battled with branding myself for a long time now... and I don't see an end in sight.
@ everyone:
Thanks for your responses and input. I appreciate your advice.
Regards.
