I have been in a playful mood, taking photos, experimenting with macro. I know it's not the norm on here, but I like it. No manipulation so far.
I like the natural focus, but it lacks movement. I have slightly motion blurred versions that I want to incorporate into the image to pick up the pace, especially on the bass. With pants like that, he should be thrusting.
For the background I am thinking 'the pits of hell', moulton lava, spitting flames.... very metal.
I think I've been playing Brutal Legend too much. Lol :)
Does anyone else play with PhotoShop at the weekend out of working hours just for fun? Doing just personal projects? Would love to hear from you if you do. Photoshop tennis anyone?
There is no brief for this, just me playing around on a bored saturday afternoon taking pics with my tiny cannon compact.

It's oddly cropped, and the background is distracting. The composition could use work, but those statuettes are very. VERY badass.
How is Brutal Legend? I'm officially on a design hiatus due to my new mistress, Dragon Age.

We artists are indestructible, even in a prison cell or concentration camp I would be almighty in my own world of art. Even if I had to paint my pictures with my wet tongue on the dusty floor of my cell. - Pablo Picasso
The reason I liked this photo was the angle, it felt like looking up from the front row, but I can see that that crop might be very limiting. As explained the background will be replaced. I agree it looks awkward, and given my plans it does need some more breathing space.
Brutal legend is great, good comedy commentary throughout (Jack Black), but basically a hack and slash mixed with guitar hero (you open spells by playing riffs)
I just looked at Dragon Ages website, I've never played but looks good! The sword start up screen reminds me so much of Afro Samurai (Voiced by Samuel L Jackson), which is a beautifully animated, cell shaded masterpiece.
As for the figures. sold out http://www.magmabooks.com/content/bookshop/book.asp?disp=0&id=4729&page=1&c=&sc=87

dragon age had to go on the xmas wish list (i get a directive that i'm not allowed to purchase anything after a certain date). i did manage to sneak in a copy of borderlands tho and i'm just finishing that up. all of my friends moved on to dragon age, tho. :(
Dragon Age is the game Never Winter Nights should have been. You need to have many, many hours to put into it though, it isn't a pick up and play game. If you like role playing you'll love this, it's a typical fantasy story, but man does it ever suck you in.

i'll be there for it on 12/25 and beyond. trust me. if it doesn't show up under the tree, it'll appear on it's own shortly after.
Hey Monkey, Like the photo, Taking photos of action figures/statues can be a real bitch, did you see my attempt ? http://creativebits.org/hulk_wall_poster
The problem is trying to get movement into a photo of something that is static.
Try spraying some water over the figures, a very fine mist, this will help with natural reflections and bring a little dimension to the flat colour of the band.
Look forward to seeing the results,
Damn fans, always wanting their merchandise. They will be the death of me.
As for p/s tennis, fire something over,
LEAKY you in on some of the action?

Okay! Hows this going to work?
I'll post a Jpeg and an attached .PSD here by 13:00hrs tomorrow (GMT) 24/11/09
I think it would be best if one person had a go at a time, and lets see where the photoshop craziness leads!
Let's go in the order of people who have shown an interest: (more welcome)

2> Robbie
3> Leaky

Bounce a PSD round and round.
I don't know about time restraints, but maybe 48 hours? You can always play a 'pass' if you are to busy to participate.
Rules:
Anything goes, replace images, alter intentions, twist meanings, have fun.
Maybe 'Critique' isn't the place for this. A new thead in the forum? I do think all stages should be placed in one post to show progression.
Outstanding work will win nothing but the admiration of your peers.
Any suggestions to improve upon this?

Guess I missed this - where are the pics?
We're just starting, Art.

should we do this as a turn by turn thing, or just a mass brawl?

One at a time, that way there's more order to it.

Doubt my ps is compatible with the group's. The upgrade date has been pushed back again - to sometime in Feb probably. Will gladly play then. In the meantime you can wow me with your collective prowess.
My techniques are probably *yawn* compared to some of the talent I see here in PS. But what the hell...could be fun. Also, what version of PS are you using? The player before you could always save to that....

Take a guess. If you nail the correct version I'll play.
Hmmmm...I'd hazard a guess and say Photoshop 7.
